Robert Minhinnick won the English-language Book of the Year Award for his collection of essays entitled To Babel and Back. An acclaimed author and editor of Poetry Wales, this is the second time he has won the award. Rhys Evans won the Welsh-language prize for his volume Gwynfor: Rhag Pob Brad, a biography of the late political leader Gwynfor Evans. The awards, with a cheque for £10,000 for each of the two authors, were presented at a glittering awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff.
